1) Take your pickguard off.
2) Get a set of black nylon tape wounds (I like ghs)
3) Get yourself one of these

It doesn't quite look the same on that bass, does it?

I had tape-wounds on my fretless V63 for a while (two different brands) and didn't like them at all. I finally settled on LaBella flats (I think) on that one and TI flats on the fretted one. The sound is much better.

I bought one of these "Bassman" decals sometime early last year. It's close, but wasn't the original on Macca's Hoffie turquoise - just like the stenciling on his newly acquired Bassman Amp? Don't know about what everyone else has, but the lettering on mine is black and came from the same Japanese seller.

There was one of these stickers on the back side of a Fender Bassman 2-15" cab that I had and sold back in the mid-1970s. I guess that's where McCartney got his. From what I remember the lettering was GREEN on white paper. I can't believe that I didn't peel it off and keep it! LOL!

One would think that playing the bass would be sufficient instruction to the listener/viewer.
