Is it just me, or is it a dead market? Guitars that should be fetching good $$$$, are not. Nobody is really buying....

Jeff, if I were selling this guitar, I would put the trapeze TP back on. Those screws sticking out of the bottom aren't helping the appeal of this guitar. I think that would make a difference. Buyers are looking for instruments in original condition with no obvious mods.

You can sell the accent VB separately. It's not original to the guitar.

I'm pretty sure I've noticed a slight dip in prices and/or lack of interest every year around this time. I think many potential guitar buyers are concerned with shopping for others. After the holiday, things should improve slightly.

I think part of the issue is that some instruments became inflated in price. The market has now stabilized, and to some degree, is in the process of correcting itself.

Some of the stuff just ain't worth what some people think it is. That's why some of the stuff isn't moving.

There's plenty of dealers who are sitting on stuff, hopping that things will change so they can reap stellar profits. I'm not sure that's going to happen, because many dealers and now selling brand new instruments for much less than they were a year ago. Case in point is a brand new Ric 4003 can be purchased for around $1,400.00 delivered. That in itself should speak volumes to the reality at hand.

I think Ricks are traditionally undervalued, beginning with the MSRP on new instruments.

Right now, it's a buyer's/collector's market, and there are terrific deals to be found in new and old Rickenbackers of all descriptions.

Agree with Paul. There are deals and there are many cool instruments coming on the market.
At this point, many are still at their pre-crash price.

It not just guitars, it's also just about any thing that was considered collectible. My late brother-in-law amassed an amazing baseball card collection. He had many that were very rare, highly desirable and worth a lot of money. After he passed away, his brother tried to sell them. He couldn't give them away. Lots of people are spending their money only on necessities right now. There were many collectible and baseball card shops in my area that had thriving businesses. They are all gone now.

Show me what I am looking for at a reasonable price and I will buy today.
