Hey fellow Ric-sters...

I am looking to buy a Chris Squire Signature Bass 4001CS. Any owners putting one up for sale? If so, please let me know.

I've been playing an 81' ric 4001 now for 20 years, and I'd like to get another one with different features.

Thanks!

Hi Randy, welcome to the Forum. There is a section here in the Forum called Rickenbacker Marketplace. It has Sale listings and a 'Wanted' section and others as well... but I think it is blocked until you have like 30 posts in the Forum. I didn't see a CS listed there right now.

They are pretty scarce, I imagine mine's pretty rare too.

There's a 1000 of these for crissakes! V63 in Seagreen as a comparison?

Finding one shouldn't be too hard, but for a very heavy run they certainly have always kept a solid selling price. Always a good looking bass, no question.

What is that? Like 1 of 3 produced. You are a very fortunate individual.

I read some time back (a year or so) on the RIC Forum, that John Hall stated there were less than 1,000 of these produced. "If truth be told, less than that." It was a statement along those lines.

For what it's worth, Olivia's has one that they been trying to sell for well over a year now. I think the high price may be the reason why they've had it for so long.

A word on places like Olivia's and Cream City: Yes, their prices are high (too high usually), but if you deal direct with them, you can probably talk them down, especially if you have a good credit, reputation, or a bundle of cash. These two outfits also do some swapping as I've seen particular instruments at either vendor at different times.

I remember that discussion, too. I think someone had discovered that the certificates had skipped a hundred numbers somehow, and that that MAY mean there were only 900 CS basses made. I don't think JH ever confirmed that.
