Hey guys just curious what would be the recommended set of Labella DTB flats for my 4003? I was thinking the Extra Light set seemed balanced proper, but the light set seemed like it would create tension issues. I'm just curious.

Here's what I bought:
LaBella DTB
La Bella Deep Talkin' Bass Flat Wound #760FS
045-065-085-105
http://www.juststrings.com/lab-760fs.html

The 'F' is full scale, the 'S' is standard tension. They also have an extra light, light, and medium tension sets available. People on the forums seemed to think the standard tension set most closely matches the Ric strings as the E strings on both are .105. No tension or neck issues what-so-ever.

After buying them, I found that flats are just not my thing. Had them on for about a week or so, used just for practice. I have them listed for sale here. If you want to buy them, $20 delivered to US addresses instead of paying almost $50 for new.

That's the set I've used on my 4003 with no issues, and they felt right too. If you're used to something like TI Jazz flats, the LaBella DTBs will seem pretty stiff and heavy, but they didn't feel too much different (excluding the windings, of course) than the stck RIC set to me.

Highly recommended, by the way.

I'm currently using D'Ddario 40-95 nickel round wounds. I was going to try and stay close to that but if you guys recommend standard I'll do that then

Well, that is a fairly substantial change in string gauge. An alternative would be D'Addario chromes which have a 0.100 E.

I'd get the 760FX or 760FL; these strings are very stiff, so although I liked my 760FL set if I tried them again I'd get the 760FX. The 760FX matches your current gauges pretty well overall. Tension-wise I can't say, but the gauges are internally balanced (or more so than most string sets).

I have used the 760FM set (49-69-89-109) with my 4003 without any issues. After switching from 40-95 Daddario rounds to 49-109 LaBella flats, all I had to do was tighten the truss rods a little bit. Everything was just fine. And the sound was more than fine :)
