What is the difference in these 2 guitars. I found a used 2005 1957 for 1700.00 difference between Gretsch G6128-1957 or DSV

"DSV" stands for "Dyna-Sonic" pickups, but ANY `57 RI should have those. Perhaps the seller omitted a letter or number or two from the ad description. The 1957 might also be the George Harrison style 6128 that was put into production a few years beck, as opposed to the soon to be released relic replica. That one has the Rocking Bar style bridge, Dyna-Sonics, and Bigsby with the Cross head screw pin in the Bigsby arm hinge.

So for the most part the same guitar? Except the new DSV is 2550.00 and this 57 re-issue is a 2005 for 1750.00 ..I assume places like wildwood that show the DSV for 2550.00..That is the selling price..

I would Google Search each model: When I Googled "Gretsch 6128-1957," the links that the search pulled up were for a "G" tailpiece guitar with Dynasonics and a Space Controller Bridge. When I Googled "Gretsch 6128 DSV," the links that the search found were all "6128T DSV" which is the earliest type Duo Jet; fixed arm Bigsby vibrato, plain arrow knobs, square block inlays instead of the "tombstone" style on the `57, as well as a real pearloid headstock logo with letters that are more "squared off, rather than the curvier `57 style, and a Melitta bridge. It's also more expensive, and the chambers are larger, and the guitar lighter, than earlier Jet models, but since the other one's an `05, it might be equally light. I know that last year at NAMM, all of the Jets were very light in weight due to the greater chambering that Gretsch does on the Jet models these days.

As far as weight goes they seem to average about 7.4 lbs sp that's not super light. But light enough. I've never played a gretsch. How are they compared to a Rickenbacker or a Fender Telecaster. I ask because I just bought a Rickenbacker 620. Thinking I'd like how it played. I don't..It seems awkward to my 350v63. I read earlier that Gretsch's were very smooth playing Instruments..That true..So your suggesting I go with the newer guitar over the 57? IYO that is.

I don't understand why Gretsch has to make a dozen different model designations for what is essentially, the same guitar. Not to mention the price speculation that comes with that, and the confusion for any buyer....
