I never knew that Rickenbacker made a 6 string bass.

I believe they made like 6 or 7 of these things. I know these guys, not personally, but through business. They run the store well, but tend to be a bit pricey . A few of their auctions seem suspicious to me. A few times I thought that there was some shill bidding going on, but I wasn't to sure. Maybe it was a fellow shop owner so I could be wrong. I have seen this particular piece in the store on many occasions. It is very nice, but I never played it partially due to lack of interest but more or less because its behind a piece of glass... I shoulda when I had the chance. I probably would have if it was EADGBE , but the strings seem too thin to be tuned that low. Anyway, its an o.k. store.

This bass was on Ebay a few weeks ago also. I always thought these were tuned from low E like a bass, an octave lower than a guitar. If so it may have thin strings for low tension. Their reserve has to be pretty high, but then again that is one RARE bass.

Ohhhhh! It did not sell at $4050!!!

I wonder what the reserve was set at?
Probably it's what I make in three years!!!

Rare doesn't necessarily mean it is worth a whole lot though, does it? If that reserve is at, say, $5000 I would rather spend that money on a similar era 4001 variant. These guys know just how crazy Rickenbacker fans are 'cause they are themselves.
