If you put a extra pickup on a 620/660 would it be called a 630/670 and has anyone ever done this?

so either it would be a
3 pickup 620 or a 630 or maybe a 620 SPC? who knows

Scotty, before you break out the router I would wait for Gary's review.

I think you will find it may affect your playing style and we wouldn't want to get in the way of perfection.

I also wonder how much more versatile it would be with regard to tone. Of course, you would want the wiring to allow for the neck and bridge pickups on at the same time (unlike the convention RIC three pickup wiring) as that is the golden tone we are looking for.

When it comes to Rickenbacker guitars I still think two pickups (neck and bridge) rule in most cases.

Alas Peter its not a mod i can do as ive not got a 620/660 in my stable at the moment i was just wondering if anyone had done the Mod and what would the title of the guitar become.Now i wouldnt let anything get in the way of my playing style as I know its far from perfection

Scotty: It is a great question, nonetheless and one the RIC must have considered at least to some extent when these instruments were designed.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that solid body Ricks (or at least the 450 and 460 models) back in the '60's could be purchased with a third pickup if specially ordered. I've never seen one, though (and somebody please set me straight if I'm just imagining things again ).

this is exactly what im thinking Chris hypothetically if there was a 620 that was ordered from the factory with a extra pickup what indeed would it be called.Im interested to know what it would titled.Why? Cause im a curious cat and i like to know what tag is on my supermarket's counter.

I don't know about a 3 pickup 620 but a 660 with a converter comb would be a 666.
