The Strap bolts should be Chrome plated brass.
I have them on my CS from spares I have had for years.
Someone found the very thing on a door fitting last year if I remember.
No washers on those early basses by the way.

Bad Ronbo noted that the thumb screws used to hold in the storm windows/screens in his storm door were very similar to the strap buttons/mute adjustment screws, but I'm not sure that they are completely interchangeable. In any case, the thumb screws for the doors would likely be very light aluminum (mine are) and not of the same construction and weight as those for a 4001.

The P/U switch knob on my April '73 is a screw-on, so I would think that they all are. Currently, it's item # 03568 on the RIC boutique site (boutique/knobs), but they have a $20 or $25 minimum order. It wouldn't hurt to call them (# on RIC website) and explain that you have a '71 to verify the product and either ask if they can help you out (I think they have a soft spot for owners of vintage instruments) with either a NOS vintage version or a replacement. EIther get a set of strings or something else or maybe they'll throw you a bone.

I know it would be nice to have a vintage one; likely that will run you $100+ on ebay (if you can get a '71) and it's one of those things that looks now just like it did then. So, it's your call. If you'd settle for a '72 or a '73, what's the difference between that and an '83, '93 or '03 if they all fit?
