I'm new to Ricks & like most newbies I'm having a REALLY HARD time setting this thing up.... I can pretty much get the neck straight just from wrestling with it while laying down on a bed lol, but my action - even when I lower the bridge as far as it will go - is still around 5-6/32 high. I've been on several forums & everybody pretty much agrees that this is too high. Even John Hall chimed in on a forum & said 3/32 is the factory standard.. Can anybody help me with setting this beast up. Thanks

PS/ I've already been to Joeysbassnotes page.

PPS/ I'm using 45-105 flatwounds

If the neck really is straight and you have this problem, I'm sorry to say, it's probably the neck joint. I don't know what to do in that sort of situation.

A straight neck and the stock bridge at it's lowest should almost have the strings sitting flush on the frets...

Kris, how high is the action at the nut and first fret? You probably have to have the string slots lower.
