Light Autumnglo and pinstripe binding

This handsome bass came and went yesterday on eBay.

Apart from it being the light version of Autumnglo, it also has "pinstripe" binding to make it stand out. I've seen a couple of threads on here referring to the binding style, but could anyone confirm if it was a special order option from the factory, or just Rickenbacker trying different combinations for lucky buyers? Did any guitars get this treatment?

...but this is my favourite combination - not my bass sadly.

WOW Mark,
I don't know much about the pin stripe trim, but that Autumnglo is a KNOCK OUT especially with the black trim!

All of my BT Ricks have a thin (.5mm) strip of white binding inside of the black outer binding. These (and presumably others) have standard-thickness white instead of the .5 mm stuff.
I'm going to venture a guess and posit that these were a trial batch, or a batch produced while the factory was out of the .5mm stuff.
Maybe there really was "pinstripe" binding at one time?

I'm usually not a fan of the lighter Autunglo finishes, but with the black trim I think that one looks sweet. That Burgundy with the black pickguard looks sweet as well!

Ya know I usually don't comment on every rick that comes up for sale as if they are all mana from heaven. Some are just plain-Jane or too beat to hell for my taste. However I think the bass this tread is based on is very attractive in its own right (RIC or not) as well as the overall condition. The combination of the light burst and pinstripe binding, set off by the black trim makes it unique compared to other 4001's. I think this was a fair sale price for a 4001 of this caliber. Considering the market I wouldn't otherwise pay this much for a 4001 right now.
