Pickguard noise

Don't know if this is the right section but...

I recently finished a home build that I am quite happy with. Unfortunately, the pickguard seems to make a lot of static noise. I've sanded the back, tried dryer sheets and wax to no avail. It's been doing it now for a couple weeks.

I must have ******** something up...

Scott, try taking a wire, soldering to ground, and strip the end a bit and capture it to the guard somehow. See if this drains static and stops the problem. The guard is probably floating (not grounded) and plastic like that will build a static charge.

Got my cure. I tried the grounding, sanding, putting foam and/or sandpaper paper under the pg. Waxing it. Polishing it. Bounce dryer sheets. All to no avail.

Then I found an old (I mean real old - Lucky generic brand) dryer sheets in my garage. I rubbed it with one of them - and PRESTO. Static gone. I guess the brand of dryer sheet matters to some degree. Buy cheap!
