Every once in a while, I check "News" over at the RIC site, and it's been two years, but now they have a closeout section in the Boutique. You have to go to the Boutique section, and while there isn't a closeout section listed in drop-down menu (yet), it's accros the top of any boutique department page. Right now it's all strings, several sets for bass, including 8-string sets!

Cool! Thanks for the tip!
I'm sure Dan will get around to adding the drop down menu pretty soon...

Thanks for the tip Paul!
I just bought a 4003s8 and was going to order a couple sets of SIT strings for it... TONIGHT. Bought two sets at the Boutique... Lucky I guess!

I'm not familiar with any of these string sets, they aren't the typical Ric strings (bass sets at least). Anyone have any comments on the ground strings, the stainless, and/or the nickel 45-55-75-95 set?
I'm dead set on Circle Ks as my rounds of choice or I'd order a few. I'm glad RIC is doing this regardless.

Uh oh, I hope my note isn't construed as "advertising a commercial product"!
I was just so surprised that there was something new in "news" there.

So as not to be construed as promotion, I'll add only that we're just about ready to shake up our current string lineup and wanted to get these off the shelf quickly by offering them at a 50% discount.

Paul: The RRF is all about promoting Rickenbackers.

Just got myself three sets including a set of 8 string.
I haven't tried the other gauges before, but at $17 a set, I'll give them a try on the older basses to give the necks a vacation.

Mr. Hall, I was kind of wondering about the "Balance" set of bass strings in the Strings section of the boutique--is that something that has been newly developed for RIC?

I was curious about the balanced set as well.
Also...does this mean the return of RIC flat wounds!? Now THAT I'll stay tuned for!

No flats for the moment, but the balanced strings are hex core and are especially accurate with regard to equal tension across all strings. Quite frankly, this set is being offered more for non-Rickenbacker basses and is an entry into the "mainstream" string market.
Part of this program is aimed towards our distributors and very large volume retailers, to make them much more commonly available. Shortly you'll much greater presence for our strings in both Asia and the U.K. Hopefully continental Europe will get on board soon as well.

Sounds like exciting news. Though they might be for more for non-Rickenbacker basses, I might try them for my Ricks anyway!
I really could use a new 8 string set.
