Hi,

I haven't been on here for a while, as I've been cheating on my Ric past with a Tele, but have discovered the errors of my ways!

I have managed to hunt down a lefty 610, which I'm very excited about. Problem is the current owner has it strung up right handed, and in the process had a guitar tech take out the lefty nut and replace with a right handed one.

My question is, does Rickenbacker make a lefty replacement nut, as I don't see one in the boutique section of the Ric official site, and as a lefty myself want to set it up as nature intended.

And if not, would part number 03325 be suitable for a lefty?

Having owned a few Rics in my time, I can't remember if the nut slopes downwards towards the headstock or not, which if this is the case with this nut would mean (I'm guessing) it won't work.

If someone could shed some light on the best way to deal with this I would appreciate it.

PS-I've put this post on the Ric site too.

I believe the nut you mentioned is flat on top, so just turn it around and it should work fine.

I can't tell from the picture if the string slots slope downwards on one side, thus meaning it can only be used as a righty.

I guess if the slots are level then I'm fine to flip it round, but wanted to make 100% sure before I bought it....

Yes, that's the one. It's definitely flat, so just flip it around.

I'll order it, and can't wait to get started on turning it back to a lefty.

Update Guys,

So I ordered the nut from a stockist in the UK, and it has confirmed my worst fears!It's really only suitable for a right handed setup!

It's for a right handed guitar only, due to the fact that the nuts slots are cut downwards at a slight angle towards the headstock end for a righthanded setup.

Just thought it might be useful info to post the outcome of this for any other lefty Ric owners out there looking for a nut.

Looks like I may need to get filling the nut and cutting it for a left handed setup.

That's strange, because I'm looking at one in my hand right now and the slots are level. I'm sorry if I steered you the wrong way.

Yep, the slots are angled down, ever so slightly towards the headstock if it were to set up for a right handed player.

Even the official Ric dealer here in the UK, Rossetti said it would be fine for a lefty as well.

If I were to put this on left handed the slot angles would then be sloping towards the fretboard.

I'm just surprised that there seems to be no option on the Ric site to actually buy a lefty nut.

A guy from the Ric forum called Uffingdon, who lives here in the UK has kindly offered to fix it for me for free!

Proof again that all Ric guys and Gals the world over are a great bunch.

Strange, because I bought a replacement nut for my lefty 660/12 from Rossetti a few months ago and it's flat. Anyway, hope it goes well with the guitar
