this is something from bad dream, it is fairly common on 4001 at the nut and some older 12 string o at the end of fingerboard on the treble side.. but i haven't come across neck with modern rod that did that what you are describing yet, the modern neck goes in to severe backbow or wave instead when there is too much truss rod adjustment... this, what you're describing, IMHO means that it was exposed to extreme elements - the heat source is most likely cause. or it was starved glue joint.... the proper fix would be to take the whole fingerboard off, clean all - ! all ! - the glue residue and glue it back on, paint touchup comes right after. some simple glue and clamp will not work if there is glue residue. i would check the bass through out for other problems as well. if the heat was the cause it is likely that the body wings are not attached firmly any more as well even though it's not visible yet.

Any suggestions for taking the fretboard off of neck-through basses?
