Lets see your late 60's.. 360's. 21 Fret NS!

Post by Ric_MEL »

as I read through Rickenbacker Electric 12 String... tryin' to get my head around model evolution:

Initially.. 330 and 360 are both 21 frets, with "pointy" horns.. the 360 is deluxe . with binding.. and triangle Inlay fretmarkers..

Then in 1965.. Ric updates the 360 to rounded horns.. but they remain 21 fret.

Then in 1969 Ric goes to 24 fret necks on the 300 series ( and Hi-Gains )

so: for a handful of years.. the 360NS was- rounded corners WITH 21 frets ! ( text says they were made to some degree into the 70's )

but in the scheme of things: the 21 fret 360NS has to be kinda rare! ?

Let's see some! Who out there in RR has one of these ( 6 or 12 string! )

Pictures and stories how/when you got 'em! please!

Not really! There were a whole lot of them made, especially from 1965-1968. 1966 was the red letter year.

There might be more 60s 360 NS 6-strings than 12-strings! I rarely see a 12 offered anywhere, but 6's? See 'em all the time!

Now a '63/'64 330/6 that ISN'T RoMo? Let's find one of those!

Yep, they made more NS 360's in this period than anything else (from what I understand, there was exponential growth to meet the '66-'67 demand).

They are garden-variety as vintage Rics get (particularly 6-strings and Fireglo).

AFAIK, they don't exist. From what I understand, they were meeting the orders for RM. Besides....the deal with RM started in '64 anyways---so the non-Capri 330 doesn't look like it was a production guitar in '63 anyways.

Besides, rare or not---they wouldn't be nearly as interesting to me, as a RM.

I know that, that's why you've got two! (dang awesome at that!)

Non RoMo doesn't twang my banjo, either. If my 360/12V64 had a f-hole, my life would be complete! :P

This is a unique place! Garden variety vintage Rics !

So : since they made lots of these for 4-5 years.. and subsequently have made the 24 fret rounded corner body 360 for 40 years

Is there a premium on the sound quality of: the late 60's 21 fret 360 NS ( 6 or 12 string ) .. ( Vintage pickups and wider pickup spacing.. )

or is it really: a collector thing..

Here are two of mine. I think both of these qualify as 'rare'.....

1964 (Dec.)

And 1967....
