This is the only time I've seen Howie's "custom" bass in use.
Plus which Heartbreaker is playing drums and the tambourine?

Walls (Circus)
Re: Walls (Circus)
Howie's bass was a faker and a heated discussion topic on this board.
The drummer and tambourine man were session musicians, due to the fact that Steve Ferrone and Scott Thurston were not official members of the band yet (they did not become official until the Fillmore stands of '97).

Re: Walls (Circus)
But Ferrone had played with them before this video...right?
Re: Walls (Circus)
Yes, and so had Scott Thurston. Both of them had done the Wildflowers/"Dogs with Wings" tour of 1995, while Scott had been playing with the group since 1991's "Touring the Great Wide Open" tour. They were not official until 1997, and when Howie missed the cover shoot of Echo and a fuzzy Scott Thurston replaced him, it was official that the Side-Breakers became full Heartbreakers
The video was shot in late 1995/early 1996 and Ferrone was doing session work with someone for the recording of that song and it's album, maybe Tracy Chapman or Eric Clapton.
Curt Bisquera and Chris Trujillo played drums and percussion, respectively, for "Walls (Circus)" and other tracks recorded specifically for Songs and Music from She's the One. He is uncredited, but She's the One was the first album to feature Scott Thurston entirely, playing rhythm guitar for the specifically new tracks, and harmonica on "Zero from Outer Space". Tom recalls in Conversations with Tom Petty that most of the songs were left over from Wildflowers, notably "California", "Hope You Never", "Supernatural Radio" and "Hung Up and Overdue", the first three feature Ferrone, while the latter features Ringo Starr.
