What would the forum recommend to polish gold hardware?
Would any of the products I already have work? Dr Duck's Ax Wax, Dunlop Formula 65 Guitar Polish, Simichrome?
Thanks,
Jack

They'll all work--to remove the gold right down to nickel in one pass!
Gold does not tarnish. If your plating looks dull, it's because it is flash-plated over nickel (only a couple of microns thick) and the nickel has tarnished underneath, a sure sign that your gold will go, too, if you as much as look at it cross-eyed...you can keep your gold bright by wiping with a soft flannel. Dampen it if you must, but don't use polish. Plain wax is OK, without abrasives in the formula.
That having been said, note that Rickenbacker gold plating is thicker and more durable than most. Gibson and Gretsch seem to be the worst.
