The two on the lower right, and the third from the right on top:



Looks like a 320 hollow body with the upper horn of a 450... Or rather, a 450-style with a ramp and 3 pickups. Also the unusual two knob(or is it three?) control configuration.

The one on top is weird, looks like it has two toasters scrunched together... a ToastBucker? They all look full scale, too.

The two lower ones are prototypes for a Jackson Browne guitar that was never produced; I know of the TUR one for sure, and I assume the JG one was just an alternatively finished version. The one in the upper row looks like another version of same in FG with some detail differences, perhaps?

Two with maple fretboard and one with rosewood by the looks of it... they look small and fat, but kind of cool at the same time!

That's in the Smith book - a solid 4005 prototype? Dammit, I can picture the page it's on but not the caption!

Almost looks like the c58 body thickness. I'm thinking these are probably hollow.

I hope so, Thomas, as they'd weigh a ton solid (I'm quite biased about solidbodies).

Does anybody know if the necks are bolt-on? I mean, with the way the body and neck are sprayed different reminds me of bolt-on...

I don't think they are bolt-ons... there are precedents for this kind of separate finish, after all:

That experimental 4001s was used by John Paul Jones live in 1969.

Yeah, you're probably right there. Such a thing would look lovely on a 480 btw.

Someday, I'd like to buy an old 4001/3S JG and make it into that one behind the lemmy. With JH's permission of course. Would i be allowed to do that?
