this topic I suggested adding neck dimensions and girth to the register. To me this seems like a worthwile addition. It is easier than one of us keeping a spreadsheet. And it could make it easier for some to just fill it in.
Gil has a 2 questions about this:

If I get an excel or a CSV containing serial numbers and neck dimensions I can put it into the register.
Any thoughts on this?

I think a spreadsheet would be better, as it's there and a quick glance to see an idea of the sizes in each year, as opposed to having a look at a few 73's then going to the 1986 pages to find those sizes and so on.
Would it be best to keep to Inches and if so go with fractional or decimal inches?, or just go metric and end up with 55mm instead of 2.16 inch or just over 2, 1/8th etc.

Have you seen the way you can now watch price trends in the register? No need to go to individual bassen for this.
My thinking was that it is a) a lot easier to maintain (with the latest additions allways on hand). and b) probably leads to more people adding their data as it is there when you add an instrument. No knowledge of the existence of the current spreadsheet is necesary.
But with this amount of response I guess it does not justify any further thougt and work.

The metric system is much easier IMO. It is how we count our money.

IMO, it is also more precise, as one can measure to within a half a millimeter, and 0.5 mm = 0.02 inches ...
If this does become part of the register, then the instructions on making the measurements should be included in a FAQ or similar.

Let's talk about metric time..........to keep it simple, how about we start with the metric week?
