I also use one of these:

They are great for alternate tunings.

Several folks on the Forum have recommended the Kyser Capo for 12-strings....

I thought about starting a new thread, but I will just add a question. Are there any capos that could cause finish damage from rubber contact?
I have a kyser capo that I use with my acoustics, but there is a clear rubber pad on the neck side that I am afraid would eat the finish of my Rick.
I too have been wondering about a good capo choice for Ricks, and from my research G7 is the way to go.

I have two, a Schubb (12 string) and a G7th.

I've wondered about this too.
Particularly since I've got an old Ric......my 1965 360 has a nitro finish, I think.
I wonder if a capo might damage it?
?

I'm beginning to be more and more convinced that Scotty has the right idea. I've tried using a capo on my 360/12 for "If I Needed Some One" (George Harrison) and haven't been very satisfied with the results. Yes, yes, I know George used a capo at the 7th fret and played out of a D chord shape. He also played that D7 lick with a flat pick where I prefer to hybrid pick. So I use a partial barre, leave the 5th pair of strings open throughout verse and it ends up sounding a little more like McGuinn ( or me interpreting Roger's playing) than it does George Harrison.

That is the one I use - both the six and 12 string versions

with the neck width as they are, even with the 660, would a 6 string capo suffice or should you go with a 12 string capo for rick 12 strings? This thread is becoming rather informative.
