However No cert, Serial # D4-8537. does anyone have a 'guestimate' around what number this would fall in off the production line?

Just arrived today

Cheers.

Well, in searching The Register for CS basses with a D$ serial number, and ordering by serial number:
http://www.rickresource.com/register/in ... D4&order=6

We see that the only registered versions around yours are D48565 which is #30 and D48557 which is #26. So it's likely that yours was probably #27, #28, or #29...

Me too.

Do these guys have a lot of 4001's for sale, or is it just me, Musicstorelive.

The original hard shell case is included.
That doesnt look like the same case I got. That looks like one of the new style cases

The original case from the deal I would imagine this bass traded hands a few times, it didn't come with a 'vintage' silver case. Taking it for a test drive tonight.

Forgive me Andrew... Congrats on the aquisition. I recently got one. Amazing instrument. You are going to love it. Maybe some better pics than the ones on ebay when you get a moment?

Thanks,

I didn't really have a lot to go on as I have heard mixed things about the value of a CS, but the neck and action are awesome. I tried a (91?) MapleGlo V63 at Sam Ash Vintage in NYC a few weeks ago, but when this popped up for the same price I decided to jump on it. Would have been nice to Know the actual production number but thanks to forum members digging around it seems to be in the high 20's.

Paint job is as expected, some cracking in the finish but it is in amazing shape otherwise.

Cheers

I think the cracked finish gives it some extra mojo. Looks so cool.

It's register as a "CI" which means it was "collected" from a public place such as ebay. Send a note (PM) to Peter (admin) or Gil (gibsonlp) and they will get it put under your name...
