Has anybody tried DR Strings DDT set?

So I've been seeing these advertised for a while now. Being that I tune DGCF for the band I'm in, they've caught my eye.

Does anybody know what the story is? Are they supposed have the same tension as a regular set tuned standard, but for lower tunings? I currently have my eye on the Circle K Balanced .112 set, but I am looking at DDTs as well.

Thanks in advance for the input!

Excellent! Thanks in advance!

I do have to add that I'm pretty set on the Circle K Balanced .112 set, but I wanted to explore the DDT set before I committed.

I have no experience with them but check out the discussion about them on TalkBass... seems hit or miss but some people sound really disappointed.

Yeah, I think I might pass. It sounds like their just the same old strings with different marketing.

Circle K's it is!

As far as I am concerned, I have always had great experience with Dr strings, either the Fat beams or Lo-rider, etc. They are really good. I would be surprised if the DDT would not do the job properly, honestly. Try them on yourself, that is the only way !!!

Hey Josh. Do you have a link to that discussion ? I can't find it there. Thanks. Rick.

And that may very well be.

But from the sound of it, the set is not going to do what I had hoped it would, which was to have standard gauges and standard-tuning tension while being tuned down. As I stated previously, it sounds to me like DR has just found a new way to market the same old strings. That said, I have heard rave reviews about the Circle K set. If I am going to have to use a heavier gauge set, then that's the way I am going to go.

On the other hand, if a string manufacturer were to make a set that had about 40 lbs. of tension per string while tuned DGCF in a .045-.105 gauged set, I think they'd really be on to something!

It was many weeks ago that I read the remarks and I didn't subscribe to the thread. Later tonight I'll try to track it down. Sorry I can't be more helpful at the moment.

Rick, I can't find the discussion anymore. There are some threads I did find with positive and neutral remarks. Either way it's probably best just to figure out what you like for yourself... as you and I both know string preferences are highly personal, and it is not a science.

I think I actually found it when I was over there. Let me take another look.

No luck. How funny! I was just looking at thread myself the other day! I'll look again later.
