I am curious. What does one have to do to gain access to the Marketplace forum? Thanks. Pete

In your case, 24 more posts. 30 posts is the magic number.

Nah, it's pretty easy, especially if you're actually interested in Ricks...

That's the basic idea, we like to have members who are truly into the forum, not just looking for a quick Grab n' RunĀ®. The concept of community is very important to us, here. Just this afternoon I went to check out a local sale of a Rick bass for another forumite who lives a few hundred miles form me. 8)

Be careful, Pete. Once you go down that yellow brick road there's no ruby slippers that will get you back!

Evidently this is a pretty common occurrence! I had a forumite offer to do the same for me!

I think with the monetary amounts we pay for our Ricks having someone you know and trust from this forum and maybe having met at a Confluence gives a level of relief in sending money when the sale happens. It is also comforting to sell an instrument to a forumite both because of familiarity and keeping the instrument "in the family."

This is good to know. I thought you had to sell your soul or something.

You've already done that if you're a bass player!

Forums like this are just so valuable. There is such a huge breadth of knowledge and the feeling of trust it instills is fantastic. I would always prefer to buy from a dedicated forum of enthusiast such as this than risk the evilbay or the raft of overpriced dealers.

A lot of the smaller dealers will offer pretty reasonable prices without even having to haggle. Quite a few of them will even give the instrument a set up before they send it out to you.

If you're going to go to Sam Ash, Musician's Friend, Zzounds, etc...be prepared to pay! They will price match, of course, but you still won't get the complimentary set up some smaller dealers offer.

I bought and sold two Ric basses on this forum in the past and this is the place to be for sure !!!

BTW, how is the market for Ric basses these days ??? Seems like more bass players are returning to Ric basses these days... Let me know your thoughts !
