Has anyone made a purchase from the people?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

No personal transactions but they have a lot of Ricks for sale on ebay and have some pretty good (and recent) ebay seller feedback.

If it's the C64 that you're interested in, I would pass on that one. You can get them brand new from authorized dealers with the full warranty for less money than this one is being offered at (used and 9 years old as it is). A new one would also have the stronger, thinner two-piece neck and more stable bridge saddles.

POTR had one when I looked yesterday.

And they're not alone. North Coast Music has two C64 models and two C64S models; setup is included in price. Wildwood Guitars has I think 3 or 4 C64 models and 1 Jetglo C64S, IIRC, and they also include a setup by the in-house tech.
There are several more dealers that have them in stock. Just have a look around the internet.

The fireglo and the turquois have caught my eye. Both have wear, but the turquois has a gouge on the face. Hard for me to swallow knowing it will be there forever. Does Ric offer a service if I would send it back to them to be fixed or am I out of luck and have to find a luthier?

RIC would most likely only handle that as a warranty claim, and the warranty is not transferable. You'll need more than a luthier; you'll need a luthier that sprays conversion varnish. On the plus side, Paul W. (jingle jangle) is here all the time. Check out his forum "Reflections of a Curmudgeon."

Yep, looks just like my 4001C64 that I purchased from Wildwood, except mine came with a factory warranty, a smaller price tag, and a healthy dose of "peace of mind". Keep shopping, there are a few C64s out there, at competitive prices, from authorized Ric dealers.
btw, I love mine - they are fantastic basses. The neck is super-thin & playable, the horse shoe/toaster pickup combo just sounds incredible, and the tone is pure vintage Rickenbacker.
Oh, and the vintage-style silver tolex case w/crushed blue velvet interior is just
too cool...
