artists using rick 12 in a solo guitar/voice setting?

Does anyone know artists that use the Rickenbacker 12 as an instrument supporting vocals in a solo setting? I find the Rick 12 to be extremely effective, especially with a little delay or echo as an instrument used in a solo setting, just supporting the voice, using capos, arpeggios etc...sometimes I think it's even superior to acoustic guitar, it's very easy to create a nice and large atmospheric soundscape to sing over. I've been singing solo with a Rick 12 recently and it just works brilliantly. I am surprised that instrument has not been used more in such a setting...The only time I've seen it used like that was by Jeff Buckley live, in some of his intros.

I'd be keen to hear recommendations of artists using the Rick 12 in that setting. I'll actually be playing a solo show next week in Sydney in that particular way so if you're around let me know to see and hear what I am talking about!!

I am hoping to put some recordings featuring this technique on my blog soon.

There's this local guy who does some solo shows with a 330/12.
He does solo ska-tinged interpretations of classic underground rock & pop tunes.
I've never actually seen him play, but I've heard positive reviews.

Look him up on http://www.icompositions.com He goes by the name Captain Sandwich.
:D

I do it all the time. I hate the piezo quack so when I play solo I'll either use my 360/12 or my Strat. Sometimes through an amp, sometimes through a digital preamp direct to the board.

Yes I do this as well...

I use my 620 12 through a POD 2 and into the mixing board... A clean setting normally with just a bit of digital delay.

It works as a non traditional way to do acoustic folk based material...

I think BIlly Bragg has done this too.

I've been known to use my Rick 360/12 to back up my own solo singing.

Have had some luck with a Boss Acoustic Simulator Pedal with my Ric 12 strings with Toasters... you can't turn the volume real high on the amp, but at lower settings it has a nice tonal quality.

That's true. Many of us watched him do it.
