The March '11 issue of VG has a great article on Bud Tutmarc and the first commercially made electric solidbody bass guitar. FMIC really need to revise their "Fender made the first bass guitar" claims. I have known about Tutmarc for many years but this article really puts thing into perspective.

I think i read about that. Nasty thing he created no? but it was an electric bass

Lots of hobbyist/inventors around back then...most we never will hear about. Then there was Leo Fender...
