Interesting read. Not having played a 3/4 Rick and ignorant of the specifics of John Lennon's 325, I look forward to even more interesting reads within this thread. Thanks for posting

Not much to say except that there are more informative and less opinionated pieces on Lennon's 325 elsewhere on this site and others.

The writer (and I combed the site looking for just who the heck he is--no byline; I guess he thinks he's a household word or sumthin' ) has a dismissive and very negative opinion of the 325, and when somebody is so terse and nasty, my "closed mind" detector starts buzzing. Doesn't sound like he knows his subject, and unfortunately his worldwide soapbox gives him too much visibility and ego-massage.

He actually sounds like he's saying that the Beatles didn't really write their best material until John stopped playing his 325. Everything else he writes in this article is cribbed from familiar sources, some of it verbatim.

I guess that all one needs to be a writer these days is an opinion.

Pretty ridiculous article... seems like they are being paid by Gibson or something.

To say in his article Lennon's use of the 325 is the greatest hoax in rock n roll history makes it sound like Lennon never even used it, or the 325 didn't even exist (assuming the author knows what hoax means). Obviously a prejudicial writer with highly questionable writing skills. I'd leave my name off of the piece, too.

I'm quite appalled by the article... John's 325 has the same status as a sighting of Nessie!

Lest anyone think that Ferguson is the guy in the lead photo in John's link above, the photo is of Michael Bentine, a comedian who invented the characters shown in the photo (Bumblies), who in turn were based upon Al Capp's Shmoo.

There don't seem to be any current pics of Ferguson on the site. After some sleuthing, I managed to find one...

At least no one will be fighting this guy on ebay for a 325. He sounds pretty bitter about it. I wonder what the 325 did to him?

Where is Lennon's Telecaster in this fable?

I've been wondering about the Jr with Christian pickup--why DiMarino would countervene Lennon's request for a "humperdinger" (humbucking) neck pickup and use, of all things, a CC instead.

Assuming that the only CC pickups available at that time were originals, made to install in hollow-bodied jazzboxes, how did he fit one into a thin solidbody? Must've been one heck of a routing job, as an original CC is 38mm (1 3/8") thick with a huge 3-point mounting bracket. I don't have any Jrs around to measure, but have to think that they must be thinner than this...

???
