I have a set of 4 black bakelite oven knobs I bought off eBay many years ago. Just found them in my parts bin, and am curious as to when they might have been made. They have slot screws, brushed gold diamonds and
Rogan Bros Chicago USA printed inside the back. Any ideas whether these are repros or originals, and what era are they from. I don't see any info on these knobs as far as dating them. Pics:

When they are deformed by heat, they are vintage oven knobs for sure !

Usually Rickenbacker oven knobs are brown not black.

I found the black ones in a bin at a used electronics parts store some years back. AFAIK there is any way to figure out their date of manufacture.

Any way to confirm that all Ric oven knobs were
always brown? Then I would be sure mine are not Ric knobs. I've only owned newer Ric's with the 'standard' round black knobs, so I have no knowledge of older Ric (oven) knob colors.

I have six guitars of varying ages with oven knobs- all of them are brown of one shade or another. I don't know the definitive answer but I'd say this is a trend.

Sounds like evidence is mounting against them being Ric knobs, unless someone has seen otherwise.

All the black oven knobs that I have seen are sold by parties or firms other than Rickenbacker.

These are stock Rogan knobs; catalog items, in other words. I've also seen them in maroon and ivory, with gold inserts, although not on guitars.

I need two more black/silver oven knobs if anyone has some for sale. Gary, if you wanted to sell two black/gold knobs I'd prolly buy those as well and employ the Dane method of respraying the gold portion in silver.
