Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Awareness

COPD, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, is a serious lung disease that makes it harder and harder to breathe. Also known as chronic bronchitis, emphysema or both, COPD affects approximately 24 million Americans, as many as half don’t even know they have it. To help identify those who are undiagnosed, all Americans age 35 or older are encouraged to log on to DRIVE4COPD.COM and answer five brief questions to see if they may be at risk for COPD. While COPD can’t be cured and the lung damage can’t be reversed, with proper treatment, people can take steps to manage their symptoms and breathe better. That’s why CMA and DRIVE4COPD are partnering on this competition, to help find the missing millions and encourage them to talk to their healthcare professional and manage their symptoms.

I have entered a Song I wrote titled "I'm Lovin' Life" in their help to raise awareness Contest. I would really appreciate it if you would vote for me. I'd really appreciate if you would send this on to your friends & family. I am trying to do my part in raising awareness & would appreciate their votes. Yes, I would like to win the contest too! But would much rather help someone who may not even know about COPD.

Glenn- You have my vote. I was diagnosed with COPD at age 50, six years ago (Born asthmatic, and 30-plus years of smoky bars likely had a hand in it), with 32% lung function. The meds help and I haven't deteriorated an appreciable amount since, but regardless, it's a ***** (sorry for the language) living with it. Most days, I'm controlled enough that people I meet don't know, and my wife and I still go for bike rides on sunny days, but I'll probably never climb three flights of stairs in one go again.

Thank you for taking the time to write the song and enter it. Thank you also for your efforts to raise awareness.

Good luck to you and I hope you win!

Kevin

<edit- after checking out the link> Hey folks, the top vote-getter in this contest has over 2500 votes! We need to help Glenn, here! There is only about a week left, so head over to the site and help him out, please?
