I HAVE A 66 360/12 AND The R has an issue underneath where one of the square metal chunks that seperates the strings underneath broke off along time ago. I have been wedging a piece in there to accomidate,

Can I use my new R with the original bracket or do I need to get a new Bracket for it? I have an Xtra Rick R from the 90's/2000's

Anyone know?

You're probably in the best position of anyone to find out. If you want to avoid the hassle of changing strings trying to find out, here's what you do; capo the strings on the neck, then loosen the strings just enough so you can take the existing tailpiece out of the bracket without having to remove the strings-the cap will hold them in place on the tuners. Then attempt to fit the newer "R" TP. If it fits slide the strings out of the old TP and into the new one, if not, put the old TP back on; even if the strings slip out of the slots in the old TP, the capo will hold them in place on the neck and tuning keys, so you can put them back in, re-attach the tailpiece, and tighten the strings back up to pitch.
