Unrecognized 360/12v64 serial number

Hello all --
I'm brand new here to the RRF but have owned and played Rickenbackers for going on 12 years now. I have a question regarding the serial number on my 360/12v64 and I'm not quite sure where to put it. Last week I spent a few hours searching through the forums (and ended up wondering why I haven't spent time at the RRF in the past drooling over all of the beautiful Rics!) for information regarding what I'm now calling a "strange" serial number (or a strangely formatted SN). So here's my post, hopefully in the right section.
I've owned this guitar for maybe ten years, bought new from Musician's Friend. I know, there's no way I'd do that today, but I did back in 2001. Anyway, I've been cleaning and reorganizing my guitars, changing strings and just generally enjoying my collection and, as I came to my 12, I realized that I don't know its year of manufacture. I went to the official Ric site and used the serial number decoder and my result was "You have entered an invalid serial number. Please try again." So I started thinking that maybe I can't really read the number as engraved on the jackplate. But honestly, I don't know what else it could be. Have any of you had this kind of problem with a newer Ric? I have a couple of pretty good photos of the plate that I'll try to upload. Do the letters look like u's to you? They look like horseshoes to me! At any rate, there doesn't seem to be a "UU" designation in any databases I've searched.
Sorry to come on here and make this my first post. But after reading (and getting VERY distracted by all the content here!) a ton of stuff on here in my search, Im sure I'll have a lot more to contribute in the future.
Thanks in advance!
Jeff
