Hi everyone. On some rare occasions and bank holidays I check my spam folder... I regulary get music-related spam from "garyguitars at googlemail.com". Does anyone else get this? Just curious. A domain "aweber" dot com also seems to be referenced in these emails.

Yep. I clicked on it and was taken to a site that sold guitars--both bass and 6-string--that had bodies shaped like large, oval, blue, pill-like objects.

Weird.

I'm curious to know how I got on their list. I've never seen spam so well directed... the guitars, not the pills!

Jason: Thankfully I have not had the Spam to which you refer. The short answer to your question is that you use the Internet. If you type the prefix to your email address into your browser the google links that you see will provide you with the long answer. :)

Too true!!! :)

Did you mean "jdogric12" or "garyguitars" for a google search? :?: A search on "jd.." was quite surprising, but then I guess I chose a pretty unique handle... ten years ago, and its uniqueness seems to have held up! "gg.." yielded little I could sort out, just a bunch of guys named Gary playing guitars!

Jason: I meant the former. I hope that you do not have a steady diet of Spam. It can be hard on the constitution.

Gmail seems to do a really good job of keeping it out. About once a month I think about it and check the spam folder. Only once or twice has it ever put something I want in there, and it's because a bonehead friend of mine included lots of garbage in the subject or text! Wish I could say the same for my previous email address...

For the record, I have never eaten SPAM. I think I have eaten something prepared with it as an ingredient, but I can't recall exactly.

In one of the Asian countries I've visited (can't remember which), Spam is a much revered main dish, prepared in oh, so many delectable ways.

We'd always take it camping, in case the fishing thing didn't work out that day.
