toasters: are bass and guitar toasters the same?

Basic question; are the toaster pickups found on 60s guitars the same as those found on 60s and early 70s basses?
If not, what are the differences?
thanks in advance -
Richard

The pickup itself, is identical, the difference being the baseplate for the basses having threaded mounting holes vs. slightly larger, non-threaded holes on the ones that went on guitars.

Never knew that! Guess I have an extra '60s toaster for guitar OR bass in my desk drawer. Guess it could make a decent paperweight....

Yup, definitely the same pickup. I about had a cow when I took the pickups off my 66' 4005 to clean them and saw six pole pieces!

Well, I'd love to restore a '60's Rick carcass around it. I was thinking a 425, but I guess I could do a bass, too. I'm going to look into it. It's a bit painful having it with no guitar to put it on!

So I guess I should ask if there is a single toaster Rickenbacker bass. I know quite a bit (but never enough) about Rickenbacker guitars, but almost nothing about basses!

Just delete some unused stuff or reformat you brain and start over.

There were different toaster pickups (long pole vs. short pole) in the neck position on Rick guitars. I would assume there were different toasters at that position on the basses as well. The long pole pickups have more bite.

My Feb '67 4005WB has a short pole toaster in the neck position, same as that on my March '67 330.
