Thanks RIC

Just wanted to take a moment, and post the results of the saddles problem on my 4003. Rickenbacker, not only replaced the 2 bad saddles(or the ones I was having a problem with); they sent me a full set. I thought I might had fallen through the cracks but they showed me that they were there with me when it came to getting the problem solved. I'd like to say thank you to them. I've always loved the bass, and the way it played, and sounded; I just needed to get the wobbling/rattling under control. Ric stepped up to the plate, and made it happen. Again, "thanks Ric".

Glad to hear it, John!

Have you got them cut and installed yet? How's the new set settling in?

That was a highly expected result as far as I am concerned. In my experience, RIC is a fantastic company run by great management and its employees are first class.

That's how I was treated in 2007 when I had the same problem. Glad to hear it worked out for you.

Thanks Cassius, for all your help, and suggestions. Coolingitdown; The saddles work perfectly. Obviously I must have gotten some of the last remaining old saddles on my new bass, but these are the new ones.

I can't wait till all of the old ones are phased out and we stop hearing about this happening on new basses.

I wonder why they aren't sorted and tossed?

Must have been a huge batch of faulty parts if they´re still available for new basses(?) My saddle rattle case was handled …differently, but I´m glad to hear some of you have had good experience. After all, these are wonderful basses and it´s a shame to keep them off the track waiting for spare parts.

They weren't faulty, just an older design. We made at least 50,000 basses with that old design which are perfectly serviceable. But the new design is definitely better and I imagine all of the previous revision parts are now long gone.

(I can't wait to hear when someone decides the old part had some kind of special mojo and that people start paying a premium for the old, original part.)

hahaha. I can hear it now...

"The saddles manufactured from 200x to early 2010 had a tendency to stand tall and give this distinctive rattling sound, which is great for when I play with my Peruvian folk/bossa nova band. I highly recommend them, even if you have to pay $80 for a set!"

Thanks for the tip, John! I may just hang on to my old saddles for that reason!

I wouldn't be surprised to see that happening someday ;> "Ah, your new 2026 model 4003 is nice but you should get a set of those pre-2011 saddles to get the right sound!".

edit: Jonathan was faster and I'm telling the old joke again....sorry
