4001CS, what if?

Forumites,

I was reading the old announcement of the Limited Edition 4001CS under "Old News" on the RIC website. I noticed the date: January 1, 1991, twenty years ago.

It got me wondering - backlog issues aside, what if RIC had not manufactured the 4001CS then, but released it now for the first time. How many would be produced? What would sales be like?

I don't have any good guesses, but I would be interested to read any insights or speculation you might have.

I think it would be a more accurate reproduction of Squire's bass due to the more accurate C64. Details like the tailpiece and tuners would be nice. Rumour has it that all 1000 were not produced though due to a break in serial numbers during the production. If that's the case, finishing the run now would make for the best of the run.
