I mean Really WE as collectors and lovers of the bass have raised the price so dang much an average guy, on a single income and married with kids can't even begin to look at finding another one to add to the collection cause the prices are so jacked up. I mean really my 76 4001 I paid 400 dollars for it back in 1982 and was my first Ric. Then my 3000 I bought brand new for like 650.00 back in 1985. The guitar shop had it in stock along time and I was first owner. Anyways guys just venting thats all.....

The 3000 is a 1976 also was a great find and i still own them both. I just been wanting another 4001 in MG with black or a AFG. Thanks for listening guys and gals.

Factoring for inflation I'm pretty sure the $1500-1800 most 4003s cost right now (depending on who you ask) is not too far off of the $400 for paid for your 4001.

Compared to the price of any Gibson USA guitar, Rickenbackers are borderline cheap for a quality, Made In America instrument.

I've said before, not with the most recent price list increase, but the one before, I think RIC could have/should have raised the prices more than they did.
For premium quality, made in America instruments, they are a great value.

I wonder how many Rickenbacker basses there are in the world in total. How many of them get played on regular basis and how many of them are just part of somebody´s collection?

In 1978, tuition at one of the University of Wisconsin campuses was around $400 per semester. Given that, Rics are a bargain.

"Why Did we have to love Ric's so much?"
