I have a 620 on the way to me & am considering adding a 3rd pickup, as I really find the tone combos useful. Anyone done this? Is there routing involved or just a little drilling?

There was a discussion in another thread recently about this. The thread was the long one about converting a semi-hollow to a solidbody, but at around page 5 or 6 the conversation veered into discussing adding a third p/u to a 620.

I did not do the mod, I bought the guitar this way:
The story from the seller was that it was a RIC employee's 'specially made' instrument ... at least the wiring looks all factory original.

i am certainly willing to help with wiring info, etc. if you need it.

So what would that be, a 630? I bet RIC would sell a lot of 630s.

I tend to use 623 as the unofficial model number, analogous to the official model 483, the three-pickup version of the 480.

I think it's a really classy look. It's a lot of what I asthetically like about a 325 without the huge Lennon shadow hanging over it.

I think that the original owner may have been trying for a look similar to the 350SH:

I added a 3rd pickup to my 330 recently and it wasn't hard.
