3001 Replacement Pickup?

Hello to all, The pickup on my 77 3001 has finally "given up". I need a suitable replacement and would rather not hack up the pickguard. Could someone advise me as to whether the Bartolini or Duncan PUPS designed for the 4001-03 instruments would fit? Or does anyone know where I could procure a working stock 3001 pickup?
Much Thanks, Rick

Welcome Rick. Your pickup may very well be repairable. Maybe a cross post here will help:

Welcome to the forum, Rick. Have you checked the wiring and made sure the output jack is clean and in good shape?
If you've checked and all seems to be fine, then contacting Sergio in the forum Ken posted, is a good idea.

Hey, I might have been lucky but if you are patient enough, ebay does come up with nos pickups. You have to be quick though, I found a couple reasonably priced ones for my 3000's, for 60-75 dollars. There are a few advertised in the three hundred dollar range, I believe they are out of their minds.

I'd throw in a toaster, or a hi-gain with a toaster cover!

Thanks guys! I did see a 3001 PU on EBay for $325...sheesh. I was thinking of putting the neck position Bartolini pickup in her or a high gain but was unsure if the dimensions were correct for the guard.

I think I'd ask Dr Sergio to look at it. Original equipment IS original equipment.

I have had Sergio rewind a couple of pickups for me. He does good work, and you'll have your original pickup for the bass. Shoot him a PM and you'll be very happy with his quote including shipping.

For future refference, high gains and toaster won't fit the guards on 3000 & 3001 basses. They also aren't as tall, so they can not be adjusted to be as close to the strings.
