Hey guys, does anyone know if the treble pickup cover they sell at the RIC website for $20 will fit my '85 4003? Thanks!

You can order a new one from your local RIC dealer or the RIC boutique The taller pickups utilize four dimples on the aluminum plate to push the bobbin tight into the cover. You might have to shim it with a piece of foam or non-conductive/ non-magnrtic material.dbriggy wrote:"Part No 03315 Current fitment on all 4003 basses and unchanged since around 1976. Earlier 4000 series basses used a shallower version but can be retro-fit with this part."
This is what it says on the Ricsrus website about the treble p/up cover, I have been looking as I want to get one to replace the missing one on my '73 4001
So, did they change the hand rest/pickup cover for the 1976-81 4001's? I have a 1979 and I always thought that the previous owner had lost the original and replaced it with the taller 4003 version.dbriggy wrote:"Part No 03315 Current fitment on all 4003 basses and unchanged since around 1976.
Yes. If it sits up high, it is improperly installed.MichaelStewart wrote:So, did they change the hand rest/pickup cover for the 1976-81 4001's? Does this mean that my hand rest/pickup cover could actually be stock???
Not even close to being correct, but then, consider the source.dbriggy wrote:"Part No 03315 Current fitment on all 4003 basses and unchanged since around 1976. Earlier 4000 series basses used a shallower version but can be retro-fit with this part."
