Gibson thought is was a good idea to make a Jonas Brothers Signature model Melody Maker with a huge JD logo on it. NO JOKE. And it has a limited run of 300. I am going to start digging my bomb shelter right now, cause the end of the world is surely near. I think I am going to wait for the Justin Bieber signature SG. Maybe one day Angus and the "Bieb" and trade solos on Hell Aint A Bad Place To Be. But I think my dream would be the Miley Cyrus signature ES-175. Steve Howe has one, why not Miley. You would think some companies would think and have execs. high up in the company that would say ' Are you insane, that is the most ridiculous idea ever" . I guess it is about the mighty $.

I am sure in Arizona they are cooking it up right now. I hope it comes with cute little bird stickers and square stickers like the ones painted on the bus so I can customize my axe.

You guys shouldn't be surprised.
Gibson was at the top of a Slippery Slope a couple of years back with that stupid Hendrix fiasco, after dodging the bullet for years.
They're heading downhill, gaining momentum.

Great comments, everyone !!!

Wonder how much the Jonas Bros and Danny Partridge signature models will be selling for at Vintage Guitar Shows in 20 years time ?? And then will some bozo come out with a "relic" version of each, that they throw down a stair-well ??

Yes they will, a relic model and a tribute model and a reissue model and a Vintage Orig. Spec model and a Road Worn model and a standard model and a classic model and a deluxe model and then Epiphone will do a cheaper version of all those models. My head is swimming.

The real headscratcher here is why they're doing this AFTER the Jonas Bros popularity has peaked. They're three years late to the party.

Some mysteries will never be solved. Like when you are at Disneyland and you have your picture taken with Mickey Mouse does the guy inside the costume smile? We will never know. Gibson is making a mockery of their once famous guitar company.

The merits of signature model guitars is always going to be a tetchy subject.
The majority of signature models (by any guitar manufacturing company) are released well after the original peak of popularity of the artist or band in question, and actually Rickenbacker themselves have probably done this more than most.
But then again, releasing a signature model during an artists peak doesn't always reap dividends either. Just ask Gretsch about the sales of their 6123 Monkees model released in 1966.
At the end of the day Gibson consistantly offer the consumer new products, not all of it is great, but when they do get it right, they are light years ahead of the competition.
I'm not that familiar with The Jonas Brothers, but I am informed that they have sold infinitely more records than The Bangles. (Career peak between 1984-1986. Rickenbacker 350SH released 1989)

Good grief, your issue with signature models has more personalities than Sybil

You honestly can't tell me a Jonas Bro. Sig model is the most idiotic think ever. I know they have sold tons of albums and inspired countless prepubescent males to grab a guitar and want to crank their amps to 11. I must be the only one on earth that thinks this is funny.
