The record industry is a dirty business..............and IMO it always has been. It seems nothing has changed after all these years.

Who are you mad at Joan and Currie or the people making the album?

Having once been a professional musician myself Joel, I always side with the artist if they are being taken advantage of by unscrupulous parties.

I'm on Joan's side, too. No matter how ostensibly noble the reasons, the company needs to play by the rules.

Yep, I didn't see that they used their names to promote it without their permission. I saw Joan Jett open for the Kinks on the tour they did for the album that came out after Word Of Mouth.

If Joan Jett wrote a song on the album, I think it should be allowed to use that to advertise the album. In case she didn't write any (part of) songs on the tribute album then it shouldn't be allowed to use her name.

Having studied law, I'm always on the lawyers' side

I would think that, having studied law, you would always be on the OTHER side!
