It will be my 4th time, but first since 1983
One of my best friends (the drummer in my band) is taking me for my birthday (from this past April). He says they're doing the whole "Moving Pictures" thing...
I had to post!

I saw them in London last month, it's a fantastic show and yes they did do the whole of moving pictures which was the first tour I saw them on. Get there on time to see the little vid they play at the begining staring the band 'Rash', very, very funny!
You'll have a great time, enjoy!
Although I was a bit disapointed he didnt use a Ric at all in the show

Yep they do. The entire Moving Pics starts of the second set. The two videos before the 1st and 2nd set are hilarious, and there is a video at the end. I wont ruin it for you if you don't know anything about it. I have seen them 6 times and saw the Time Machine Tour last year. Like any Rush show nowadays, unless you love every phase and every song Rush ever did there will be songs you would rather hear than some of the stuff they play. If you go to the Cygnux X-1 Rush fan website you can see the setlist of what they will be playing. After Signals I kind of lost interest in Rush's direction. Geddy was playing to many synths and not enough bass for my taste. I missed the side long and 12 minute songs. Once I read reviews about Snakes and Arrows, I was shocked at how good that album was. Rush also play two new songs from their upcoming album called BU2B and Caravan. I liked one more than the other, but I can't remember which. Don't hold your breath an expect Ged to rock a Ric its all Fender Jazz basses. Alex plays 6 or seven different guitars, and of course the Prof. has and enormous drum kit.
Enjoy

I was very much the same. I was HUGE into Rush right up until (and through) Signals, and then I got turned off by the Synths. I am really excited about seeing them now though. I watched the "Beyond the Lighted Stage" documentary and thought it was great. It looked liked I missed out on some good music later on so I'm going in with open ears.
I'm hoping ol' Geddy might whip out the Rick for his L.A. fans, but after reading the comments from you guys I won't be holding my breath.
One thing for sure is I'll be coming home with a new Rush concert T- shirt, Whoo hoo!

Hope you saved your pennies cause they are pricey. Usually every Rush album after Signals had a good song or two but never wowed me. The Beyond The Lighted Stage doc is really good. I have that and the DVD's of Snakes And Arrows Live, R30, Rush In Rio, Replay x 3 which is Exit... Stage Left, Grace Under Pressure Tour, and Show Of Hands, it also has a CD of the Grace Under Pressure Tour. I also have the Classic Album 2112 / Moving Pictures doc. I have or have downloaded all of their albums. The ones I have downloaded are the ones from Hold Your Fire on. I hope their next album is not a flop. I know bands want to try new things too not pinhole or stagnate themselves, and I certainly don't want then to just remake 2112 or A Farewell To Kings on every album. Like I said I have seen them 6 times when they toured for Moving Pictures, Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, Hold Your Fire, 30th Ann., and Time Machine. Moving Pictures was the best and it was only my 3rd real concert. Gone are the days of seeing an opening band. I saw FM, Gary Moore, Steve Morse and Tommy Shaw open for Rush. I took my wife to the Time Machine Tour cause she never saw Rush live. Hard to believe Moving Pictures is 30 years old.

That set would work for me, particularly the second set, but I'll give you an update, because..........................it's Tomorrow Night!!!
Heading to Universal City in Hollywood from Orange County about 4:00, going to have some dinner, then RUSH.
Apparently, no opening act (as has been stated) but I'm OK with that. I told my friend we will probably see 2 sets with an intermission and some cool/fun video's.
This will be my first "Big" rock concert (outside of a club or House of Blues type setting) since AC/DC at the LA forum back in the '90's.

That is the last updated setlist from the Cygnus X-1 fansite and the set I saw back in September outside DC. It is the second leg of the tour and they may change a song or two, but I doubt it. It was a great show. Funny videos, all kind of wacky stuff on stage. It is great to see a band that is not afraid to poke fun at themselves. Are they playing outside or inside. I saw them outside the last 2 times and inside the first 4.
Enyoy. I go see The Drive-By Truckers tomorrow in a 2500 seat club and Robin Trower on Saturday at the same place in Norfolk,VA. This will be DBT show 5 and my first Trower show. The Strat will be crankin.

Well I just got home.
The show was AMAZING! My friend totally bro'd me down. We were 5th row from the stage and right in the center. I was maybe 10 feet or so from the band. We also got the killer pink wristbands that gave us access to the V.I.P area. I got some great pictures on my cell phone that I'll post soon.
No Rick for Geddy, that was a bit of a letdown, but much fun had by all.
Same set as posted above (which was cool 'cause I knew when to go for a beer

)
The new songs sounded pretty cool and the Moving pictures set was right on. Geddy's voice was strong and the video's were funny. I give it a 100% recommendation if the show comes to your area.
T-shirts = $50
Baseball jerseys = $100

Parking lot T shirts = $15
That's all I have to say about that.

Rock and Roll. I told you shirts were pricey. You girls stop moving pitchers.
