LED alternative

Post by gearhed289 »

So, being old and blind (slight exaggerations), I often find myself having a hard time seeing the side dots on the edge of my fingerboard, especially when there are red lights on me. Years ago, I had glow in the dark star stickers on the Modulus I was using. I couldn't find any for a reasonable price, so I thought about maybe dabs of glow in the dark paint... While searching for that at Hobby Lobby, I came across a sheet of iridescent peel and stick material. Kind of like the dashboard of a Trans Am, or those peel and stick letters you can use for For Sale signs or whatever. Bought it (under 3 bucks) and took a hole puncher to it to create dots... Works well! I know there's no way some guys will stick stuff to their Ric (can't blame ya), but I think these will serve the purpose well!

The ones at the 12th fret look crooked, but that's just the light...

Tom, looks good! If the eyes keep getting worse, you may want to look into installing one of these...

You'd better hurry if ya wanna set of FretFX. He's going to mass production soon and custom scale lengths such as the 33 1/4" found on a RIC bass will no longer be available.
