Another reason to buy a Ric

Post by coolhandjjl »

Yeah, I know I'm preaching to the choir here....

When I look at other bass forums, bass magazines, etc., it seems the major topic of discussion is always 'What new J bass do I get?" or 'Check out the latest J bass from Fender, Squier, Sadowsky, Lakland, Nordstrom', or other variant by the 100 or so companies making them. Seems like a circus of minutia. And they're ALL J BASSES.

When buying a new Ric, it's pretty simple. it's going to be a 4003, or a 4001c64. (I haven't seen any 4004's in any dealers inventories). Either way, all three of those are winners.

Or P-Bass. For a while, I'd thought of getting a Lakland. Once they copied the P and J Bass designs, I lost the desire.

The Jazz Bass is by far the most copied bass though. It makes the P Bass look obscure by comparison.
