Just playing with photoshop (I never used it before, sorry) this is a nice result. In jetglo would be perfect for me.

The original picture was of the common 620.


"Custom shape", why not!?
Has sombebody done it already here in this forum?

I do this mentally every time I see a 660 or 620. . . it's always quite tempting.

IIRC, at least one member's done this, but I can't remember who.

I think it's a great idea!

And the 620 is neck through, full body, with bindings and triangle inlays.

Jetglo, white bindings and a third pickup - all of them toasters, of course...
That all together will after cutting and painting (maybe a butchered guitar) create a nice style. A guitar that got design elements from different Rickenbackers but combined in one guitar.

And by the way: it is the Rickenbacker with the lowest price.

Mike Campbell has a '60s 615 that was sawed up to look like a 325*. No pic handy.

*EDIT: More accurately, sawed up to have two pointy cutaways.

Is it possible to get a perfect 320 shape out of the 620 body outlines?

I think not.

The horns are too different.

That was the start of my idea. But now I like this no numbered model. smooth shape.

The curve of the bottom horn is too different, but you can get it close enough, IMO. I'm just not a fan of the "cresting wave"-I think a pointy top horn similar to the 320/350 would look much cooler on that guitar.

Made a complete one. - Hmm, why not?!!!

The top horn is the problem to me. It ends up looking like a Tokai copy... not a good thing for a real Ric to look like, IMO.

It doesn't bother me; still looks better than the blocky "cresting wave," but if precise matching is desired, maybe for solid colors add some maple wing extensions on before finishing so the guitar's horns match the 350?

It is a neck through! - Quite easy.

So You can cut off the wings and install your own shape. It is the typical work of a carpenter. (see pic)

Btw.: the backside has notches to make it "smoother" - the 350 not...
One more reason.

And don't forget the ramp for the Tailpiece!

I always thought it would be cool to do that, or even go one better and make a "deluxe" version/near replica of a Combo 850, complete with mild German Carve, using a 620 or 660 guitar, (definitely with a Bigsby!) which, surprise, Larry Davis recently modded for a customer. I will prolly have one done, the only difference being no horseshoe, and with a 60s era headstock instead of the wavy Combo style-sort of like a deluxe version of the one-off "Hawaiian."

Well, the construction of the 600s offers much space to fantasise.

There was one posted somewhere (maybe here or the Bay) a while back and I saved the photo. I kind of liked it.
