So, let's say you've got a 370/12 with Hi Gain pickups. You can't afford to upgrade to three toasters all at once

. In what order do you replace them if the goal is to maximize jangle?

To maximize jangle? Bridge, neck, middle.

You're welcome. I think you can get plenty of jangle out of the Hi-Gains as well.
