12K Toasters Anywhere?

Hi
I have a 360 which was born with higains but I recently switched to the new(ish) 7.4K toasters. While I like the sound a lot I do miss the low end from the higains. I suppose that the older 12K toasters would probably be the ultimate solution. Does anybody know if these are ever for sale anywhere.
Luckily I also have a 330/12 which I suspect would be perfect for the 7.4K pickups so the money is not wasted and they are probably not that difficult to sell either.
It's so annoying that Rickenbacker didn't keep them both in the catalogue. It just doesn't make sense to discontinue a product that works.
PS I really like higains but not so much for the 360. I also have a 620 around which I find just sounds better than the 360 in direct comparison although they are certainly related:-) On the other hand with toasters on the 360 sounds better than the 620 (with toasters) but, like I explained, I would like a little more low end.
All the best
Henrik

Hi Henrik,
I don't think the 12K toasters are on sale anywhere other than the used/second hand market (e.g. eBay). Based on what I've read, they haven't been manufactured since 2000 when the 7.5Ks were phased in (due to popular demand). I have 12Ks on my 360/12 but I love them too much to sell them (sorry)! One option is to have someone "rewind" the 7.5K toaster with additional wire to make them like the 12K toasters. Maybe changing your amp or applying some low end EQ will help too.
Good luck! -Simon

Unfortunately many of the 12K toasters have been unwound to 7.5K making them even harder to find.

Thanks for the replies so far
Adding bass on the amp doesn't help in this kind of situation. The sound is too airy and the single strings lack a bit of definition, perfect for 12 string, but not enough beef I find. Another issue is also that running it through analogue gear like a Space Echo or a chorus the noisefloor is getting very close to being "too much".
I have been following ebay for a little while and haven't seen even one 12K so I fear that it will take a while to find any. If anybody knows of someone who has 12K but would rather have 7.4K I will definitely be interested in buying his for the price of a 7.4K set.
Again I would like to point out that I can certainly see uses for the 7.4K pickups but since I also have a 330/12 and a 620 I would like the 360 to have it's own sound. That means that the 330/12 will get the 7.4K toasters, the 620 will keep it's higains and the 360 is in desperate need for a set of 12Ks.

Henrik: Why not get Sergio Silva to wind the hot toasters for you. He can add wire to the scatterwounds so you get the tone you want. His Forum is
here and he is not very far from you either.

I will check it out. It's just that the pickups are very expensive already so to buy a new set and instantly send them to be modified seem a little extravagant although I just may do it anyway

It's for a 360 guitar not a bass .-)
