Interesting description of 4001 MG (VG-EC).

Has potential-for a competent luthier.

Why? Why do morons think that they can out engineer a bass that's proven? I'll never understand it, but if I had the extra green I'd buy it, but I've got two in the shop and having another one built, so no more toys.

You have to admire the sheet metal pickguard and use of slotted panhead screws ...

My concern would be how much routing is under that guard, and whether a replacement could be refitted without too many unsightly leftovers.

They could at least have included some LEDs...

Note that the bridge pickup cover is incorrectly mounted too, as if that was ALL that was wrong!
Did anyone see if this one was a 21 fret model?

Looks like there would be quite a few exposed screw holes from that grille....errr..pickguard. Did someone play this with a drill or something and need extra protection? What's the point of the sheet metal?

Whoever made and installed that metal pickguard should be made to swallow it in order to become shielded against whacked-out ideas...

I think it hasn't been sold yet. No wonder. 750 dollars is way too much to ask for so heavily (and crassly) modified a 4001. How much would it be worth if in near mint condition?
