The one and only...Evan...seen here recording at the famed Fidelitorium Studio in North Carolina. Proprietor, our forum's own resident Rickenbacker expert (and passionate fan) Mitch Easter made sure acoustic guitars on Evan's latest recordings were all Rickenbacker. Exclusively tracking using this wonderful acoustic, licensed by Rickenbacker specifically made for Evan by Paul Wilczynski
a little plug for an old friend here - I highly recommend Mitch's studio for recording. He has the tools, toys and knowledge to make a recording stand out.

Very nice!
I'd love for my band to be recorded by Mitch, that would be so sweet! But alas, we're too old and too broke. Maybe he'd surprise us, walk into our basement band lair, and man our simplistic equipment and impart his magic on us!

A guy can dream can't he??

If you don't mind paying a grand a day, I'm sure Mitch will record anywhere you want.
I'd lovvvvve to have a Ric acoustic!

Do you have a Youtube account? Just put the MP3 in a video, via Windows Movie Maker or iMovie, make a WMV (Or whatever) file, and then upload it. It doesn't take long either.

Thanks Guy..I've done that.
Not sure what we're doing with this music just yet though, so no posting for now. Paul knows his acoustic builds sound good. They're not allowed to leave the factory otherwise

Marc, I'm glad you got home safely! That was a fun session, thanks very much! Evan really is great, so everybody keep your ears out for whatever he puts out in the future.
Now, let me gently suggest to the other posters that 1. It is really worthwhile to use a "proper" recording studio, they invented them for a reason, and
2. Anybody can record at mine for drastically less than " a grand a day"!

But I'm sure it's worth it!

Sorry, Mitch, but I have a friend who wanted to hire you as a producer, and that was his actual statement. Could he have exaggerated a little? Maybe. I'm sure recording at your studio is pretty affordable, otherwise.
But, I would agree that it's worthwhile to use a proper studio, yet I won't say it's necessary for a professional sounding album. I've recorded over seventeen albums in my own house within the past five years - One mic, my laptop, with my guitar and amp. The question of whether or not my music is listenable to most people is another story, but my recordings from the last three years have been very professional sounding - Especially considering I paid zero dollars and zero cents to complete them. Studio musicians are already making a big change in that many of them record all their tracks, or just overdubs, from their house.
I'd love to be in a real studio, though.

Remember, it's not just the studio you're paying for. Nothing against any do-it-yourselfers out there, as I'm one of those, but you're also getting the ears, knowledge, advise, experience, etc., etc., of the engineer/producer. And you can focus on nothing but playing.

Sure, but after I figure out where to place the mic in a room, what volume I can play at, and what guitar I want to use, all I have to do is hit a button and play.

It's not until after I have finished an album that I ask others opinions. Painters can spend all day in their home/studio painting, do something great, without outside opinion until afterwards. My first four albums are **** - I was younger, naiver, inexperienced, etc, but once I had time to reflect upon myself and heard others opinions, I finally started making something good. I'm not saying this against anyone; I think final products probably vary with who is involved with the music or art. People who go it alone make something they may not have done with someone else, and vice versa. I have had several opportunities to work with other people, but it either fell through or the person had other things to do. That's why I began recording my own music - No one around played drums or bass, so I had to work on timing, rhythm, and improv by myself. If I had the chance to work with someone like Mitch Easter, you'd bet I would. Sadly, I have neither the connections nor the funds to record with an experienced pro or even start my own band. It would have been easier to, but I spent two or three years going through every troubleshooting experience in personal recording to just make a nice EP.
So, yes, Mitch and everyone, recording in a studio with someone who knows what they're doing is preferable.

Especially if you get to use a Rickenbacker acoustic like Evan. I'm very jealous, and apologize for derailing this thread.

ok, enough of this recording studio nonsense
Paul wanted to hear the acoustic on the recording. It's on most of the songs but, I think this is the most prominent one. Keep in mind this is just an unmastered mp3. Still doesn't sound bad.

Marc is right! The only reason why I put in my two cents was the "grand a day" comment- ha ha! I wish. And while I am an advocate for working in dedicated studios, I am by no means implying there's anything wrong with working elsewhere. You have to do what suits you and see what you get! I just mixed a record which was recorded in two different Airstream trailers and I have no doubt that for this particular record, the trailers were the ticket. It is true, though, that the "you can do anything on your computer at home" thing has been oversold by the manufacturers and sales outlets, for obvious reasons... By the time you can really do that you will have spent some serious cash! And then you may find you need to start knocking out walls...
Anyway, that Rickenbacker acoustic had a really interesting and lively sound. It was pretty bright but with plenty of body and great clarity. It really was a distinctive sound! Ridiculously good-looking.
