She was found passed away at her home. Her death is unexplained so far.

Very sad news. :(

Sad indeed ! What a talent ! Looks like too much drugs and alcohol took her away :( ....
But today is a more sad day thinking of the Norway victims...

Wow, that is so sad, yet not a surprise at all.

Huge loss, she was a phenomenal talent (when she could get it together).

She joined the "27 club," unfortunately. :(

Very, very sad, but, as Col says, no surprise. A genuine huge talent, like the country used to produce back in the 60's and 70's, and a real loss to the contemporary music world.

It very sad, but not a surprise to me either. It just amazes me how some people like her can have the world by the tail and instead of choosing a rewarding and successful path, they destroy their lives instead, RIP Amy!

She was superb. A lot of people won't give her a chance because of the life she lived. Listen without prejudice.

Yes, it is indeed sad. I have to say, I never really cared for her music, but still to be gone at such a young age, who knows what could have been achieved had she lived longer...

I was very sad to read of this. I came to be a fan fairly late in her all too short career... :(

What's saddest is the demon of addiction, which is all too praised in this industry. You get losers like Nikki Sixx bragging about their heroin addiction like it's something to be proud of. People become known for their drug and alcohol use, and then the media only pays them attention when they mess up. Amy could have released the greatest album ever last month, and all the focus would be put on her lifestyle choices/addictions. It gets so that the only way these folks stay in the spotlight is by destroying themselves. I'm not shunning any personal responsibilty about the choices we make, but in this industry, everybody loves a trainwreck. That, to me, is the biggest crime of all.

Just look at any artist who has either found a religion or clean living lifestyle and you can see where the press and popularity stopped. Seriously, how many people would have maintained any interest in her if she got clean and sang jazzy gospel music?

I've buried enough junkie/drunkie friends to know that sobriety is no small feat, and a lifelong struggle. There is a saying that goes "Once you're a pickle, you can never go back to being a cucumber". This was told to me by a childhood friend who OD on heroin about 6 months later.

But hey, TMZ's running clips of her smoking crack in a stairwell or something, right  Next up, Charlie Sheen.

Just like Brian Jones, Hendrix and so many others, she had incredible talent, and killed herself off too quickly. It just goes to show, we should all take care of ourselves, because no one really knows how long he's got.

Mike, I think you're right about Sheen going next. Definitely going to be dead before he reaches 55!
